Rivard Plaza will be the scene of excitement and laughter while the young and young at heart participate in interactive games, create fun make-and-take crafts and enjoy lively entertainment on the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Stage.  The Discovery Zone, created by The Parade Company, will be open from June 20-23, 2008 from festival opening until 8 p.m.

Not only will The Parade Company Discovery Zone visitors enjoy a variety of performers, but exhibits and presentations from The Parade Company, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and the Detroit Institute of Arts will be featured in The Parade Company’s Discovery Zone as well. Visitors are also encouraged to catch a ride on the new River Carousel among many other carnival rides.

• Arrrrrghs & Crafts Pirate Tent! 
• Features 4 different craft stations where kids can make paper buccaneer swords, foam pirate hats, pirate tattoos, and face painting.
• There will also be an Interactive Pirate Parade three times per day, led by Swashbuckler in a mini pirate float! Children who have created swords, hats, etc. in the Pirate Area will be invited to join the Pirate Parade!

• Stories & Shows Theatre 
• Story telling and puppet shows take center state here- including a Save the Planet show!  Shows will run throughout the day with stage schedules located outside the tent.
